Arundel is the Archdruid of Kuldahar, as well as the hamlet's leader.
Location[]
He stands on the ground floor of Arundel's home in Kuldahar.
Background[]
Arundel is the current archdruid in charge of protecting the great oak of Kuldahar and the "balance" in the region.
He is the latest in a long line of druids who have performed this task in the service of Sylvanus, going back to the time when archdruid Tolben first invited townspeople to settle around the great oak centuries ago.
Arundel is very serious about "the balance": The harmony that results from man and nature no longer clashing, but instead coexisting.
Concerned about the recent disturbances in the pass, Arundel has sent his friend Hallaster to Easthaven in order to request help from Hrothgar and other adventurers.

Chapter 1 & 2 main plot[]
The main quest step 6, Reporting to Arundel, brings you to Arundel's home. When you first enter, he initiates conversation, says that he has been expecting you (as part of the expedition), and:
- Tells you about "the balance" (see #Background).
- Tells you about the disturbances in the pass.
- Tasks you with finding the source of the disturbances.
For the rest of chapter 1 and chapter 2, Arundel acts as the "quest giver" for the main plot:
See those articles for details.
Quest: An ogre with a headache[]
If you've previously met Ghereg in Kuldahar Pass in the prologue, but haven't been able to complete that quest yet, initiate conversation with Arundel again and ask him for a remedy that will help Ghereg.
Fate[]
Combat[]
When provoked, either through a failed pickpocket attempt or actual attack, Arundel goes invisible and leaves his home. He can then be found outside, at which point he uses powerful druidic magic to combat the party.
Trivia[]
- The game Baldur's Gate II (Collector's Edition and later) contains the item Staff of Arundel.
