A Composite Longbow (originally Composite Long Bow) is one of the two larger bow types, and is used to fire missiles at a target. Weapon and general stores have composite longbows available for around 112-150.
Description[]
“ | Composite bows are long bows or short bows whose staves are made from more than one type of material. This gives greater flexibility, and thus better range. These were developed after the normal long bow. | ” |
Properties[]
A standard composite longbow paired with standard arrows deals a base 1d6+2 (3-8) missile damage, has a -1 THAC0 (accuracy) bonus, a speed factor of 7, a boosted base APR of 2, and a minimum strength requirement of 15.
Like other ammunition launching weapons, bows require an ammunition to function. In the case of the composite longbow, Arrows must be purchased or found in order for the weapon to fire.
Composite longbows possess both better accuracy and damage than their Shortbow counterparts, however are slightly slower, much heavier, much more expensive, and require much higher strength to wield. Compared to Longbows, composite longbows deal more damage, but are heavier, more expensive, and require greater strength to wield.
Bows take two hands to wield, preventing the use of a shield.
As with other conventional ammunition such as Bullets and Bolts, every attack made with a composite longbow uses one arrow, and spent arrows cannot be recovered.
Bows are the most common ranged weapon used by enemies throughout the game, allowing for easy acquisition of free arrows on a regular basis.
