Durdel Anatha is the entrance cavern of Lower Dorn's Deep, and the starting area of chapter 6a of Icewind Dale.

Description[]

Centuries before the events of the Icewind Dale game, this cavern was part of the dwarven stronghold of Dorn's Deep. More recently, deep gnomes settled here.

Now, it is under control of monsters from Poquelin's army, who enslaved the gnomes.

Most of the houses have been boarded up.

Plot[]

When the party first enters this cavern, chapter 6a of the game starts.

The main cavern map initially has 39 hostile creatures, regardless of the difficulty setting:

The thieves are initially invisible, and try to seek out and backstab the party.

8 more thieves and 4 more salamanders can spawn every 8 hours if the previous ones were killed.
