Free the captive villagers (level 2) is an optional quest.

- Kill the talonite priests and trolls in the altar room in level 2 of Dragon's Eye.
- Talk to Mother Egenia there.
- Note: The only way to kill trolls permanently is to use fire or acid on them during their 'regenerating' phase.

When chapter 2 takes you to Dragon's Eye, level 2, make your way to the altar room in the bottom-left corner of the map.
Kill all the talonite priests and trolls inside this room.

Then talk to Mother Egenia at (1230, 1950) in this room, to get 36,000 exp for saving her and the nearby villagers.
The villagers are in the caves behind Mother Egenia – but they don't give any extra experience or say anything useful.
