Magic Missile is a level 1 spell from the Mage Book in Icewind Dale.

Description Edit

Casting Magic Missile, one of the most popular 1st-level spells, creates up to five missiles of magical energy that dart forth from the wizard's fingertip and unerringly strike their target, which must be a creature of some sort. Each missile inflicts 1d4+1 points of magic damage. For every two extra levels of experience, the wizard gains an additional missile. He/She has two missiles at 3rd level, three at 5th level, four at 7th level, and a maximum of five missiles at 9th level.

  • This spell is very useful for disrupting spell-casters.
  • The first level arcane spell Shield completely blocks this spell.
  • This spell has a high damage output when cast by a high-level wizard in sequencers. For example, if 3 Magic Missiles are put in a Spell Sequencer, the damage output becomes 30-75. Moreover, since it does Magic damage, most enemies are vulnerable to it.
