Melf's Acid Arrow is a level 2 Arcane spell from the Conjuration school.
Description[]
“ | This spell creates a magical arrow that speeds unerringly to its target. The arrow has no attack or damage bonus, but it inflicts 2-8 points of acid damage (There is no splash damage.) For every three levels the caster has achieved, the acid lasts another 1 round, inflicting another 2-8 points of damage. So at 3rd-5th level, the acid lasts 2 rounds, at 6th-8th level, the acid lasts for 3 rounds, etc. | ” |
Effects[]
When cast, this spell sends a magical, acid coated arrow at a target. This arrow deals 2d4 acid damage on impact, and proceeds to deal an additional 2d4 acid damage at the end of the next round. There is no saving throw. Depending on the level of the caster, the acid damage may continue to affect the target at the end of multiple subsequent rounds:

- This spell scales all up to level 30 in Icewind Dale, unlike in the Baldur's Gate series where it improves only up to Level 21, dealing a maximum of 16d4 damage.
- When cast from a scroll, this spell is set to deal 6d4 acid damage. This is equivalent to a level 6 caster, regardless of the caster's actual level.
