Norlinor is a dwarven ghost.
Location[]
Initially, he stands at the top of the stairs in the Great Forge of Upper Dorn's Deep.
After you have destroyed Terikan, Norlinor moves to the bottom of the forge.
Background[]
Many centuries ago, Norlinor was a dwarven priest of Moradin. He tended to the Great Forge temple of Upper Dorn's Deep, where he held the title of "Artisan of the Forge".
He died defending the temple.
More recently, the actions of the necromancer Terikan caused Norlinor and many other dead dwarves interred in the Tiers of the Dead to awaken as undead creatures.
While the other undead fell under Terikan's control, Norlinor managed to retain control of his mind as a ghost.
Interaction[]
When you first talk to him, Norlinor asks whether you intend to desecrate Dorn's Deep. If you indicate that you might, he refuses to talk to you any further – which means that you will have to do the next step of the main quest without his guidance, and get much less experience for it.[1]
If instead you assured Norlinor that you are not here to desecrate[2], he is much more talkative. He can tell you about himself, the Battle of the Dead, the fall of Dorn's Deep, and Terikan's recent intrusion – and he gives you instructions for the main quest step:
- Destroying Terikan (52,500 - 136,500 exp)
When you return to the now-active forge after destroying Terikan, you can[3] report back to Norlinor (now at the bottom of the map) so that he can tell you about the Forge Key and then rest in peace.
Services[]
Norlinor provides temple services (Healing and Donate).[3]
Footnotes[]
- ↑ There is no option to come back and explain to Norlinor that you did not mean what you said, so you are stuck with this choice unless you reload an earlier savegame.
- ↑ You can still plunder all loot in Dorn's Deep, and Norlinor will not notice.
- ↑ 3.0 3.1 Provided that you have not disgruntled him earlier.
