Severed Hand, level 1a

Level 1a of the Severed Hand is where the party first arrives when entering the fortress.

Description[]

The level is circular in shape: The entrance is at the center, a corridor around it forms an inner ring, and an outer ring consists of several rooms.

However, the rings don't go "all the way around" – due to collapsed structures, level 1a covers only about 2/3rds of the ground floor of the Severed Hand.

The eastern 1/3rd of the floor, level 1b, is accessible via level 3.

Many of the walls between rooms are broken down, and makeshift barricades bear witness to a battle that was waged here long ago.

Hazards[]

West room ambush:

When a party member first steps into the middle of the room that's straight west from the central staircase, 14 enemies appear out of thin air and proceed to walk towards the party:

5 Shadowed Orc Grunts (at the room's north exit)
2 Shadowed Orc Archers (inside the room)
5 Shadowed Orc Grunts (south of the room)

South floor traps:

There's a small gap in the wall at (1350, 1750), connecting the inner corridor to the room with the south makeshift stairs. Near this gap, there are 3 small floor traps.
