During chapter 1 of the game, you need to inspect this level in order to find clues about who attacked the temple before you and took the Heartstone Gem.
(Walking up to the middle of this level until you get a journal update message, suffices. Picking up the Vial of mysterious liquid will net you extra xp when you report back to Arundel in Kuldahar.)
