This is a walkthrough for the content added to Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition by Lava Del'Vortel's mod The Rediscovery of Kuldahar.
Main Kuldahar district[]
The following new side-quests are available on the base-game Kuldahar maps, and the two small new caves reachable from it:

A walkthrough for each of these quests follows.
Lack of Charisma[]
- Ask barkeeper Whitcomb in the Root Cellar in Kuldahar about the papers on his bar.
He asks you to find a way to make his friend charismatic.
- Buy the "Potion of True Smiles" from Oswald.
Spinters and Paws Will Never Be Friends[]
- Talk to the 'Tamed Dog' in Kuldahar (outdoors, south of Orrick's Tower).
You observe that the dog has a splinter in its paw.
- If your speaking party member has DEX 17+, you can choose the option "(Carefully remove it)".
You receive 250 exp.
Of Boar and Tusk[]
- Talk to the 'Ghost Boar' who appears every night (5:30 pm - 5:30 am) in Kuldahar, on the bottom-right ledge that is marked "Boar's Knoll" on the area map.
You notice that the boar's tusk is broken off.
- Find the "Boar's tusk" in the creek at (550, 2200), near the left town entrance in Kuldahar.
- Bring it to the Ghost Boar.
You receive 600 exp, and the speaking party member learns a new innate ability[2].
In Need of a Nice Evening[]
- Talk to Imma in the cave south of the inn in Kuldahar.
She asks you to bring her some wine, a blanket, and a candle so that she can have a nice evening with a friend.
- Acquire the three items:
- "Blanket"[3]:
Can be bought from Gerth's Equipment Shoppe. - "Bottle of Wine"[4]:
Found under the floorboards outside the Root Cellar tavern.
Alternatively, one can be bought from Gerth's Equipment Shoppe.- "Candle"[5]:
Found in the entrance room of Orrick's Tower.
- Bring the three items to Imma.
You receive 1400 exp and +1 reputation.
Strange Signs[]
- Enter the new cave south of the inn in Kuldahar, and click the symbols on the wall at (1000, 300).
- Return to the cave, and click the symbols again to make a copy of them.
- Return to Orrick, and give him the copy so he can send it to an analyst.
He tells you to come back in two weeks.
- 14+ days later, return to Orrick and ask him about the symbols again. He tells you it was a recipe.
You receive 1600 exp and the potion "Magic Acorn Oil"[6].
Snack for a Goblin[]
- Complete the quest "A Girl That Wants to Climb" (see below), to get 3 "Mimirma's Sandwich"[7] items.
- Enter the entrance room of Orrick's Tower with the sandwiches, and talk to Weenog – he smells them and asks for one.
- If you let him have one, you receive 500 exp and a magic dagger[8]
Magic Vessel[]
- In chapter 4, the main quest takes you to Upper Dorn's Deep.
Find the "Unusual Pot"[9] on the main floor there, on the bed at (600, 1600).
- Return to Kuldahar, and talk to Urnst the potter in his house.
He teaches you how to open the pot.
- Right-click the pot in your inventory, and select the "Investigate"-button.
"Halahnavoral", a talking flail, comes out of the pot and offers to let you wield it.
You get the 3000 exp and the magic flail if you agree, or 1000 exp if you refuse.
- Addendum: You may talk to the flail at any time by pressing its "Talk" button in the inventory.
You can also upgrade it by offering it the gem "Cosmic Ambergris", which is sold by Nym in chapter 6a.
Roar That Cut the Skies[]
- "Scout Mindin" appears outdoor in Kuldahar (near Gerth's shop) in chapter 4+, and initiates conversation when he sees you.
He asks you to meet him in his cave.
- Enter the scout's cave just north of Gerth's shop, and talk to the scout again.
He asks for your help with hunting a wild chimera.
- Talk to to Oswald in his airship, to get the "Cow-Shaped Chimera Lure".
- Travel to Kuldahar Pass, and enter the canyon side-area there.
Place the lure in the ground container in the middle of the canyon.
The "Enraged Chimera" appears, and attacks you. Defeat it anmd pick up its head.
- Bring the head back to the scout.
You receive 12,500 exp, +1 reputation[10], and the magic belt "Patience of the Unstoppable Death"[11].
The Missing Cousin[]
- Talk to Groptti in Kuldahar (outdoors, near the mage tower).
He tells you about his missing cousin Jinf.
- Find the body of the cousin during your travels, at:
chapter 5 ► Wyrm's Tooth ► Frost Giant Caves ► hut at (2400, 1600) in Kontik's camp.
- Bring the body back to Groptti in Kuldahar.
You receive 7500 exp and a magic shield[12].
Upper Kuldahar[]
- After returning from the Vale of Shadows portion of the chapter 1 main story, tell Whitcomb (in the Root Cellar tavern in Kuldahar) what happened to Lysan.
Whitcomb mentions "upper kuldahar", which marks the location of that name on your worldmap.
- Travel to Upper Kuldahar via the worldmap.
The townspeople there have been frozen, and collapse when you come near them - there is nothing you can do to save them.
- In the center of the area, "Auril's Living Storm" attacks you on sight. Defeat it for 9000 exp.
- The only surviving townsperson then initiates conversation, and explains that Lysan did this.
You receive 6000 exp.
The Lower Clearing[]
The following new side-quests are available in the Lower Clearing:

The Lost Squirrel[]
- Talk to Borwynn who stands by the upper-right house in the Lower Clearing during daytime (5:30 am - 5:30 pm).
He asks you to find his son's squirrel near the pass.
- Return to the Kuldahar Pass map, and find the squirrel on the path up to the broken tower (2600, 550).
Initiate conversation and call it by its name "Parama", to gain it as an inventory item.
- Bring it to Borwynn.
You receive 1000 exp, +1 reputation, and enchanted arrows[13].
The Arcane Book[]
- Talk to Moonn-Teel in the Lower Clearing.
He gives you the "Incomplete Book of Bigby's Heritage", and asks you to find three missing pages.
- Find the three pages during your travels.
- chapter 2 ► Dragon's Eye ► outdoors:
"Mikokol, the Kobold-Shaman" attacks you, and drops one of the pages[14] when killed. - chapter 3 ► Severed Hand ► level 3 ► bottom-section:
"Oeaya, The Sin of Nature" attacks you, and drops one of the pages[15] when killed. - chapter 4 ► Upper Dorn's Deep ► labyrinth:
"Bogorr-Tiy, The Weep-Weaver" attacks you, and drops one of the pages[16] when killed.
- chapter 2 ► Dragon's Eye ► outdoors:
- Each time you pick up one of the pages, it gets automatically absorbed into the book.
After the third one, an on-screen message[17] tells you that you have found all pages.
- Return the book to Moonn-Teel in the Lower Clearing.
He tells you where to meet him for the restoration ritual.
- Travel to the Temple of the Forgotten God, and meet Moonn-Teel in the inner sanctum there. He performs the ritual to mend the magic book.
You have two options:
Mushrooms for the Hungry[]
- Talk to Fathercrow in the Lower Clearing.
He asks you to buy glowing edible mushrooms for him from the Blooming Lair.
- Enter the Bloomscent Lair in the Lower Clearing, and buy a Bloomscent Mushroom from the Lair's Owner.
- Bring the mushroom to Fathercrow, and agree to share his meal.
You receive 850 exp.
Mushrooms, Hunger and a Brighter Future[]
- After completing "Mushrooms for the Hungry", re-enter the Bloomscent Lair in the Lower Clearing, and suggesst to the Lair's Owner that she could hire Fathercrow as a cook. She agrees.
- Tell Fathercrow the good news.
You receive 500 exp and +1 reputation.
I Don't Wanna Be Buried...[]
- Talk to Lady Arcklaux in the Lower Clearing.
She gives you her dead cat, and the rock that killed it, and asks you to resurrect it in the Vale of Shadows.
- In the Vale of Shadows, enter the Northeastern Crypt and place the cat & rock into the ground container (that burns with a green flame) in the bottom-left of the crypt.
Then pick up the resurrected cat from the same container.
- (If certain townspeople in Kuldahar see you with the resurrected cat, you suffer -1 reputation.)
- Bring it to Lady Arcklaux.
You receive 1600 exp and a magic cloak[20].
That Little Evil Thing I Created...![]
- Return to Lady Arcklaux in the Lower Clearing, 7+ days after completing "I Don't Wanna Be Buried".
- Her undead cat has turned hostile, and attacks you on sight. Kill it.
- Talk to Mr. Jumponneck again, who blames you for what happened.
You receive 950 exp if you respond in a sympathetic manner, or 900 exp and -1 reputation if you don't.
Melody of the Stone-Cold Lands?[]
- Click the giant rock head on the right edge of the Lower Clearing.
It tells you a prophecy.
You receive 750 exp.
A Girl That Wants to Climb[]
- Talk to Mimirma at the tree trunk in the Lower Clearing.
She tells you that her little sister Morha was attacked by a viper, which paralyzed her arm.
- Cast one of the following cleric spells on Morha: Remove Paralysis, Heal, or Regeneration.
- Mimirma initiates dialog to thank you.
You receive 1100 exp, +1 reputation, and a magic edible[21].
Telescope and the Star Atlas[]
- Talk to "Bool, the Stargazer" who lies on a ledge in the Lower Clearing during night-time (5:30 pm - 5:30 am).
He asks you for a telescope and funding, so that he can construct a star atlas.
He also tells you that the only telescope he knows of belongs to Oswald Fiddlebender, who won't sell it.
- Bring him one of the two available telescopes:
- CHOICE: Steal Oswald's telescope.
You can loot "Oswald's Telescope" off the shelf at (150, 60) in Oswald's airship.
You receive 750 exp and -1 reputation if you bring this one to Bool. - CHOICE: Look for another one.
In chapter 3 Severed Hand Labelas Tower astrolabe (the room with Larrel), you can loot the "Old Telescope" just near the staircase.
You receive 5500 exp if you bring this one to Bool.
- CHOICE: Steal Oswald's telescope.
- Talk to Bool again after you brought him a telescope, and pay him the 3000 he needs to start the project.
He tells you to return in a month.
- 30+ days later, talk to Bool again.
You receive 3000 exp, and a stat tome[22]
Some new fishing lure[]
- Talk to the "Fishing Townsperson" who stands in the bottom-right corner of the Lower Clearing during daytime (4:30 am - 10:30 pm).
- Enter Orrick's Tower in Kuldahar, and pick up the the "Little Wormlike Golem" from the shelf.
- Optionally, talk to Orrick about it. He lets you have it.
- Bring it to the fishing townsperson.
You receive 750 exp and a magic ring[23].
Toadeus' New Home[]
- In chapter 2, the main quest takes you to Dragon's Eye. If you have the FindIt IWD item pack mod installed, you can loot "Lord Toadeus"[24] from the High Summoner on level 4 there.
- Bring the toad to the animal sanctuary in Kuldahar's Lower Clearing (labeled "The Old Sanctuary" on the in-game map), and ask Arewood Sinhooves there to take care of it.
You receive 5000 exp.
Snake Egg[]
- In chapter 2, the main quest takes you to Dragon's Eye.
Defeat the "Fierce Snake" on level 3 and loot the "Snake Egg"[25] from its body.
- Bring the egg to the animal sanctuary in Kuldahar's Lower Clearing (labeled "The Old Sanctuary" on the in-game map), and ask Arewood Sinhooves there to take care of it.
You receive 3000 exp.
Jeweller's Study[]
- In chapter 2, the main quest has you retrieve the Heartstone Gem from Dragon's Eye.
- Once you have it, show the Heartstone Gem to the Jeweler in his little house in the Lower Clearing, so that he can inspect it.
He gets inspired to craft a magic ring[26], which he adds to his shop inventory.
