Throwing Axes are short, well balanced hatchets designed for being thrown at a target. Weapon and general stores have throwing axes available in stacks of 5 for about 5-7.
Description[]
“ | The hand axe or throwing axe is also known as a hatchet. The axe blade has a sharp steel tip counterbalanced by a pointed fluke. The short handle has a point on the bottom, and the head may have a spike on the top. | ” |
Properties[]
A standard throwing axe deals a base 1d6+1 (2-7) missile damage when thrown, a base 1d6+1 (2-7) slashing damage when swung in melee, has a speed factor of 4, and a minimum strength requirement of 4EE only.
Throwing axes have the ability to be utilized as either a thrown ranged weapon, or a melee weapon. Switching between the two modes can be done by right-clicking the item in your inventory while equipped, and changing the abilities option, or by right-clicking on the throwing axe in your toolbar outside of the inventory. Throwing axes default to being thrown.
Compared to a Battle Axe, a throwing axe used in melee has slightly higher minimum damage, slightly lower maximum damage, less weight, swings faster, costs about the same (due to being sold in stacks of 5), and has a lower minimum strength to wieldEE only.
Similar to conventional ammunition such as Arrows and Bolts, every ranged attack with a throwing axe expends one axe, and spent axes cannot be recovered.
Due to each individual axe having a weight of 4 lbs, carrying multiple stacks of throwing axes can lead to a player quickly hitting their encumbrance limits.
