The puzzle room of Upper Dorn's Deep is a large dwarven contraption.

Description[]

The floor of this empty room has a circular design that includes three circles of trapped runes (with 12 runes per circle), forming a puzzle.

Plot[]

The party must solve this puzzle as part of the main quest step:

Opening the way down to the forge (56,000 exp)

Puzzle[]

Initially, 35 of the 36 runes are trapped, and only the "hammer & anvil" rune in the top-right can be safely stepped on.

In total there are three special runes, which can be stepped on in sequence to disarm all runes:

(middle circle ► bottom)
  • the whole middle circle
  • the "rings" rune

(inner circle ► left)
  • the whole inner circle
  • the lever outside the room[1]

Pressing the unlocked lever[1] causes the inner circle of the puzzle room floor to retract and form a staircase to the gear room below.

None.

Traps[]

  • 35 undetectable Lightning Bolt traps on the floor (on every rune except the "hammer & anvil" one), as part of the puzzle. Can only be disarmed by solving the puzzle.
